Eileen was born on 1 May 1936 and died on 14 June 2023. She was one of 8 children born to John and Kate Fitzgerald and grew up on their farm in Glenmore, County Kerry, Ireland. She came to London in 1954 to train to be a nurse and met her husband Jerry on a blind date in 1958. By the early 1960s they were married with 2 children and living in Wembley, North London, which they made their home for the next 60 years. Eileen continued her career as a nurse together with raising a total of 5 children and participating enthusiastically in the all the communities within which she lived her life. She loved clothes, including making them (sewing, knitting and crochet), food and travel, spending much of the last few decades of her life travelling the world to see her far-flung grandchildren.
