Dahlia was one of ten children born to Robert and Dora, in Clarendon, Jamaica. She was brought up in a loving, bustling household where respect and hardwork were at the forefront. She attended school in Clarendon and later college where she trained as a seamstress. She was a talented dressmaker and had a gift for crochet, creating beautiful pieces for her daughters from scratch and even tailor making her granddaughter’s one of a kind crochet outfits. She was also a great baker and her famous rum cakes would be in high demand over Christmas.
Dahlia lived life to the fullest. She was an adventurer – learning to drive, travelling abroad and learning languages all in her later years. She was loved everywhere she went, with her cheerful character and infectious laughter. Many friends along the way became adopted members of her family.
Dahlia will be sorely missed by all who knew her but her spirit will live on in her children Gilda, Carol, and Myrna, grand children Natasha, Ben and Sasha and great grandchildren Isaac and Jacob.

I remember Dahlia’s laughter, her exceptional energy, her humour that you could always see in her eyes. She was always ready to party with us and the age difference disappeared when we were together. We didn’t see each other very often but it was as if we had seen each other the day before. The pleasure of being together in all simplicity was imposed on us. Dahlia also kindly introduced us to her family and friends who have become ours.
Goodbye Dahlia, thank you so much for going through our lives.
In loving memory of my wonderful Auntie. She had a loving and bubbly character, she always used to tell me after she had retired about all the activities she did each and every day of the week, from working out in the gym to Aerobics. I remember those wonderful Boxing day parties she held every year, what great time we all had.
When I was going through a tough time, and needed somewhere to stay, Auntie dahlia welcomed me with open arms. It shows the loving character she had.
Gone but never forgotten.
Dahlia, my special cousin. I appreaciate your warm and caring ways. When I lived in the UK, we spent quality time together, had lots of fun going to parties, shopping all over the place. One of our favourite places for shopping, was Shephard’s Bush market. However, as the years went by, both of us accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and saviour, which was a turning point spiritually in our lives ..Going forward, we would have spiritual conversations over the phone, when we woud pray and encourage each on numerous occasions. I will miss your great sense of humour, contageous laugh, and your sweet personality.
Memories live on. The light of the love you left behind, shines in our hearts forever. You will be sadly missed, but not forgotton. I never say goodbye. I say, so long. See you again in the resurrection. You kept the faith. Rest in peace.
Love you my cuz and friend.
