Dear Eileen, David, Sam, Mary, Kathleen, P.J. and families,
My deepest condolences to you all on the passing of a wonderful husband, Dad, Grandad, brother and family counselor to each and every member of the Connolly family from the Weir Road down through the years.
As a young fella, on my first trip to London back in the Sixties, Jarlath was waiting for me in the Hibernian in Fulham. He brought me into the King’s Head next door, introduced me to everybody and has been my best friend ever since.
We never had a bad day together. He was this gentle, witty and unassuming guy that everyone wanted to have as their buddy. He was unique as an Irishman in the fact that everybody liked him and wanted to be in his company.
I could write a book about the funny things that happened to us down through the years. But now I will savor and smile when I remember each episode and cherish them because I was the fortunate man to have a friend like Jarlath.
Ar dheis De go raibh a anam dilis.
