John Leo Timmins (also known as Lee Timmins) sadly passed away at the age of 83 on 24th November 2022 following a progressive illness this past year and a half.
Born September 17th 1939 in Ballybay County Monaghan to Susan (Homemaker) and John (Garda), he talked fondly of his memories growing up there and as 1 of 9 children (Brother to Mary, Evelyn, Patricia, Eilish, Bernard, Vera, Gaye and Delores) there were many tales to be had.
Having moved to London as a teenager, Lee became a much loved character known around Acton and Ealing where he lived for many years.
He was the beloved partner of Mary Jo for the past 21 years; Dad to 4 children – Fiona, Sean, Nicola and Leo; lovingly known as ‘Crazy Grandad’ to Herbie, Gracie and Elsie who adored him; Father in Law to Jo and Jo; a characterful Uncle and a friend to many.
We owe so much to everyone who provided such great care and support to Lee especially in recent times with extra-special thankyou to his partner Mary Jo; his daughter Fiona and her partner James; Margaret who provided wonderful home care for a number of months; his neighbours Balsam and Catherine; the MacMillan and Marie Curie cancer nurses, Hillcrest Surgery, pharmacy staff at Wellcare and ultimately the devoted team at Threen House Nursing Home in Ealing where Lee spent the last 4 weeks of his life.
He will be sadly missed by so many people that loved him and will surely be remembered for his quirky character, incredible kindness for donating to so many charitable causes and his love of having a bet on the horses with a cheeky Guinness or two in hand.
We loved you so much Lee and you will always have a huge place in our hearts.
Lee donated to a wide range of charitable causes. Rather than provide flowers at his funeral, his wish was for people to donate should they wish to his chosen charity MacMillan Cancer Support who provided invaluable care to him, the link to donate is below:

Dad/Crazy Grandad it’s been a rollercoaster of a ride, we love and miss you so much. We were so lucky to see you in your last week doing what you love – hanging out watching Judge Judy, Herbie serving you lemonade, watching horse racing and a cheers over half a Guinness. Precious memories. Thankyou Mary Jo for the devotion you had over the last 21 years, it’s very appreciated. This is a song when we think of you and Lee and the words resonate deeply with us too – Love you for a 1000 years Dad/Crazy Grandad – Rest in Peace. Love Nicky and Herbie xx
