Much Loved and will be Forever Missed
Born Kathleen Deely on the 15th September 1927 in Peterswell, Co Galway to John and Kate Deely she was one of 11 children six brothers and four sisters she left home for London in 1946 and after four years met Jack Crossan a carpenter from Cootehill Co Cavan and fell in love. They got married 26th July 1952 in Kensington their first son Sean was born 18th February 1955 and their second son Michael was born 25th June 1956.
They shared a house with two other Irish families in Mersey Street Latimer Road until they rented a house and moved to Burnt Oak in 1961.
A few years later Kathleen pushed Jack into buying their own home and moved to 59 Oakington Manor Drive, Wembley in 1966. Many happy and fond memories were had over the years and Kathleen was at her happiest running the household cooking and cleaning for everyone.
Michael and Sean both got married. Jack and Kathleen had built a house in Knappagh, Cootehill, Co Cavan which became a great place for their eight grandchildren to spend many a summer holiday with their grandparents. Jack sadly passed away after illness 24th December 2002 and Kathleen decided in later years to move back to Wembley to be closer to her family.

I have many memories of Kathleen from throughout my life but here are just a few. One memory that jumps out at me are the summers I spent with Kathleen and Jack up in Cavan. I remember we would be out on the farm with Jack and we would come in to a big steak dinner ready for us, all cooked by Kathleen. She was always such a hard worker. It was always a pleasure visiting Kathleen. Years later my wife, my kids and myself went up to bring Kathleen to Enniskillen, but once she got me behind the wheel she insisted we go to Belfast. So that’s exactly what we did. She loved shopping. Kathleen was a second mother to me. She took care of me when she brought me over to London at 18, and even when I returned in 2015. Kathleen took great pride in her garden in 59 Oakington Manner Drive. We would cut the grass and weed the flowerbeds together. There would never be a weed left standing. It had to be perfect, and it was. I remember myself, Kathleen and May would go for a Chinese and then back to the Connacht Pub for drinks. Kathleen always had us laughing.
Thank you so much for everything you have done for me Kathleen. Rest in peace xxx.
Lots and lots of love, Sean (Deely) , Marian, Ciara, Cleona and Chloe. ❤️❤️❤️

to everyone she met.I will never forget Kathleen and Jack they give me my first job in Knappagh mowing lawns and painting round the house. I have some great memories with them to cherish forever. May Kathleen rest in peace.❤
Having enjoyed lots of time enjoying wonderful times with the Crossan family over the years, the first time that I was directed to Kathleen’s house (on my way to Wembley). I was welcomed like a n old friend. I will never forget that warm welcome and how we talked. It was for me like being back in Galway, in the middle of Wembley.
Kathleen is from a generation that I am in awe of. The true Irish who inspired and gave us all a better life. Set an example for so many of us to follow.
May her gentle soul rest in peace.

My fondest memories of my wonderful “darling” Aunt Kathleen, whom certainly was one in a million.
As far back as I can remember, she and Jack made regular visits to us in Galway, and we loved to see them coming. Kathleen and my dad (her late brother John) would discuss all the local news and gossip between Peterswell/Gort and Loughrea. She was a much loved sister by all her siblings. My dad always said “she was one of the best with a kind heart and didn’t have a bad bone in her body”.
Kathleen never forgot where she came from and never looked down on anyone regardless of how successful she had become.
She was so kind and supportive to us growing up, always encouraging us to do better, and she was so proud of our achievements big and small.
Of course I personally loved her style, her clothes, shoes and jewellery! She loved to dress up and was a great shopper! She brought me my first watch for my First Holy Communion – no one else in my class had a watch – cool!!
For my 21st Birthday she took me to Panache Boutique in Monaghan (wow) and bought me a beautiful Silk outfit…. very expensive and she said “say nothing darling”. Then of course she took over the catering for my 21st Birthday Party! She and Jack arrived from Cavan with a boot full of her home cooked meats & salads for the party!
Aunt Kathleen was a wonderful cook and she loved entering people. Nothing was ever too much trouble or too much work for her.
Over the years I spent so many good times with Aunt Kathleen & Jack both in Cavan and London, and have many wonderful memories. Only in 2018 Kathleen came to the US on holiday with me, my mom and Katie, visiting cousin Maria in Boston and many others in Wilmington. We had a wonderful holiday and she enjoyed the shopping and the days and nights out! There was no stopping her at 91!
She remained on with me in Ireland for an extra two weeks, she enjoyed coming into Galway with me for lunch or just a coffee, attended a few parties with our friends and walking the garden with our dog Milo! Tom and I totally enjoyed taking her out and on one occasion she took to the floor dancing an old time waltz, no bother to her!
In 2019 I spent a few days at Oakington Manor Drive … again no stopping her…. We took a taxi to Harrods… went for lunch and she enjoyed a glass of wine finishing off with a Baileys Coffee! She was fun, kind, so generous and above all loving.
I will miss this wonderful woman, she is loved so much and will be missed beyond measure.
Rest in Peace Aunt Kathleen… you have faught the good fight…. you have won the race…. God Bless you xxxx. All our Love your niece Maura (Deely), Tom & Katie Doyle, Galway

I have many fond memories of Kathleen Crossan but one story springs to mind one summer while on holiday in Ireland myself & the twin brother Eamonn were helping jack Crossan & frank dowd worming the calves @ Annalee house co.Cavan jack brokered a deal if we helped with the “ worming “ and helped with the bales he would drive us down to Galway to stay with uncle Eamonn ( Lally) . The deal was done jack drove us down in the blue Mercedes sports car we felt like kings , but that night when we unpacked our back packs there was an envelope with £100 punts each with a note from Kathleen telling us to enjoy our stay with uncle Eamonn and to never forget our Galway roots , and don’t tell jack .
What a great woman Kathleen was .
