Memories

  1. Sending my heartfelt condolences, thoughts and prayers to Minister Janice, Minister Sharon, Samantha and the Hosten family at this most difficult time.

I will forever remember Mothers Flora and the way in which her smile was so bright and her laugh infectious – she was truly the epitome of Strength.

I remember visiting her home frequently for prayer with my Aunty Mira as a child and we would eat our fish and chips at the little
Shop beside Mother Flora’s home, and then more recently when mum and I visited and we were singing, praying reminiscing and laughing so hard that hours just flew by without us even realising! – there was never ever a dull moment in Mother Flora’s presence.

Mother Flora was always so loving and kind – always asking how my her good friend my dad was (both of Dominican decent) The fond memories we shared will live with me forever also her lovely pet bird who always wanted to converse and repeat words we would have such a laugh! I truly thank God for those priceless moments that will forever live with me.

Praying the family’s continued strength, just lean on Jesus, he knows the pain and is acquainted with our grief – Mum is resting now no longer in pain she is in Glory in the arms of Jesus

Until we meet again our Beloved Mother Flora.

With Love, Pearl, Simon, Aunrei & Lily ❤️♥️

  2. Mother Flora was always full of joy and laughter. Even when she was in pain or suffering she still thought of others. Since we met up again at Ruach she’s been like a mother to me, always sending her love. Out of the blue one day she blessed me with a gift which I really appreciated. I will never forget her kindness to me and mourn her passing but the Lord has seen it fit to call his blessed daughter mother Flora home to be safe in His arms. It’s time for her to take her rest. She was a true mother in Zion, a queen and a treasure. May she rest in eternal peace in Jesus Name

  3. My deepest sympathies to my dear friend Samantha, her sisters, Hosten family and friends on the loss of your mother. As I read these messages I get a very clear sense of what a great lady your Mother was, what a blessing to all whose lives she touched. Rest in Peace. Ljubica xxx

  4. God bless you Minister Janice, Sharon and Samantha. My heartfelt condolences to you and your entire family. My Sister Maureen and I loved Mother Flora and will miss her dearly. We never actually got the chance to meet her in person but we felt we knew her well as every week for nearly 2 and half years she attended CfCM’s Zoom Services each and every week and during the pandemic. She was a wise, prayerful Woman of God and she clearly and proudly LOVED the Lord. Her passion for His Word, and understanding of the Bible that she recited and applied to her own life despite health challenges was truly inspiring. Despite how she felt, as she would say, she praised God wholeheartedly, and loved Him as He loved her – unconditionally. We know that she is just resting, safe in the loving arms of our deliverer, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. She was a beautiful soul with a loving, caring heart! Praying your comfort and strength in Jesus Name! St. John 10:14 and St John 14:1 KJV. Rest in Sweet heavenly peace Mother Flora. Sis Marcia and Maureen (CfCM).

  5. Condolences on the passing of Mother Flora. She was a committed Christian and a kind and caring lady. Her contributions to the NMC Christian Fellowship Group and her knowledge and wisdom will be much missed.

Thoughts and prayers with you all.

    Simon and Julia

  10. We have lost a few gems over the years and it is never easy when you realise you will never see someone again, never engage in chit chats which brought out smiles and laughter, never be able to embrace them until you meet again, if only for a short while. Aunty Flora you were special in that you displayed a certain strength we were in awe of, you were a caring loving person who always looked out for us. You will be truly missed so thank you for the memories, you will remain in our hearts forever.

  11. Firstly, my condolences to Janice, Samantha and Sharon on the loss of your beautiful mother and to the entire Hosten family and friends. Mother Flora was an inspiration to us all, through all her sickness and affliction her love and faith in God never wavered, she was a strong woman of God and a pillar of CFCM church community. Mother Flora never really called me by my name, it was always ‘my goddaughter’ in that sweet voice she had. My fondest memories are when we used to have church in the back hall and as we would get into the van when service had finished, she would sneak a snickers bar into my hand ( I do believe this is how my deep love of a snickers bar started) and when I would go to her house after church for Sunday dinner. Janice would be in the kitchen cooking and Mother Flora would be giving instructions and I was there sitting in the middle of the living room on a cushion from the settee. My Godmother is and will be grateful missed and forever loved.

  12. I remember when I was small and we lived in Bradford and we use to come up and see the family and was introduced to my auntie and we just seem to click straight away she would talk to me and spoil me with presents and sweets she was so kind to me it is something I will never forget her kindness and her laugh. I want to say thank you and to let you know you will be missed May god rest your soul

  13. My sincere and hear felt condolences go out to you again Janice, Sharon and Samantha.
I truly thank God for your precious Mother Flora’s life, whose life has impacted mine so positively.
She was always loving, kind and caring, and always had an encouraging word. You felt her warmth, whenever you spoke to her.
But most of all it is her faith that has impacted me. Such a true soldier of the Kingdom, never waivering in her faith, but ALWAYS giving God the Glory, not matter what she was experiencing.
I thank God that she has been such an example to follow.
Thank God for the legacy you have left behind Mother Flora, Love and Miss you Always, until we meet again. Sis Susan xx

She put on the whole armour of Christ and upheld the standard of a Christian soldier on the Army of the Lord.

God our Father in Heaven is well pleased. All her tears are wiped away

Sleep until you rise first with our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ

    Revelation 21:4
    King James Version (KJV)

“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”

  17. Our sincere love and condolences to Minister Janice, Minister Sharon and Sis Samantha. Mother Flora was a wonderful Woman of God. She had a warm approachable nature, and her smile was so irresistible, you had to smile too. Mother Flora was an encourager. She always had a word or scripture ready to give us. One of the many scripture is 1 Thessalonians 4: 16-18. She was indeed a great friend.

  18. Mother Flora I will remember you as a devout Christian, mother and a pilar of your community. May you rest in everlasting piece, you will be truly missed.

Love Margaret and Claribell And rest of the family

  20. Tribute to Mother Flora:
I didn’t get to say goodbye you departed in the twinkling of an eye.
I didn’t get to say farewell. The sadness my heart feels no words can tell. So many things were left unsaid, so many tears will I still shed, without any warning death came calling and in a heartbeat you were taken away.
How cruel is death how selfish indeed to take someone who meant so much to me. My heart grieves, for you are dearly loved and dearly missed.
Heaven bid you come my dearly loved one and in an instant you were gone.
Though I know no one lives forever I wish you could have stayed on for longer. There will never be a good time to die or an easy way to say goodbye.
Until we meet again, this is my sad goodbye. We’ll meet again in the heavens above as we are united with the ones we love.
I treasure my memories of you and our weekly chats.
Rest in eternal peace Mother Flora and rise in glory.

  21. Tribute to the Late: Mother Flora Hosten

I am deeply honoured to share this celebration of life tribute for a mighty woman of God, Mother Flora Hosten. We thank God for her life and legacy. She was a radiant reflection of beauty and God’s love, continually holding forth the word of truth, demonstrating what it means to commit wholeheartedly. She loved unconditionally and served unselfishly. I especially delighted in hearing her speak in her native and distinguished Dominican ascent; it was if she never left Dominica! She thought of others in kind and gentle ways and encouraged people of all ages.
Madame Hosten, was a consistent and great supporter of Hanwell: Chosen for Christ Ministries, and held her late leaders, especially the late Pastor, Mother Williams in high honour. Mother Flo (affectionately called), worked for a time with my dad, Bishop Thomas and the late Bishop Crossfield at Abbot Brothers in the sixties. The relationship goes a long way back, my late mother, Missionary W. Thomas and Mother Flora always spoke affectionately of each other.
Our prayers and respect goes out to her most beautiful daughters, Janice, Sharon, Samantha and the extended family. In this moment, whilst we celebrate her heavenly transition, we also mourn the departure of her earthly presence: “Yes, we are fully confident, and we would rather be away from these earthly bodies, for then we will be at home with the Lord.”

I call her the Clinger she clings to God. And never let go

They have been a lot of Failures. Who never pass the test. But she is not one of them

God had counted on Adam.Counted on Cain Counted on Jonah. But they all prove the same

And to all Frend’s and loved ones – there are no words – to describe how beloved mother Flora was to the CFCM church but Only God knows and is a healer of Broken Hearts

[18] The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. [19] Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all. [20] He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken.

  25. Mother Flora was a ‘Woman of Worth’. She was rich in wisdom, compassion, love and the abundant grace of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Her generous heart meant she shared her spiritual wealth with many, demonstrating the love of God.

An admirable Woman of God who was beautiful inside and outside with a captivating smile that brought out the smile in you. And when she spoke her words of life commanded attention.
